Description

A pregnancy belly cast, sometimes called a belly mask or belly mold, is a plaster cast made of an expecting mom's beautiful pregnant form. Pregnancy is a very special, yet fleeting, time in a woman's life and memories quickly fade. Photos only capture a flat 2-dimensional image, but a pregnancy belly cast captures the exciting transformation a mom undergoes during pregnancy in a full 3 dimensions!

A pregnancy belly cast enables a mom to forever remember how she looked during her pregnancy and the special nine months she shared with her growing baby. As one mom aptly put it, "It is a really cool way of capturing your pregnant body. You can show your child later that this is what mom looked like when you were inside!"

A belly cast is usually made 4-6 weeks before a mom's due date, but you could also make multiple belly casts to capture the miraculous changes in mom's body throughout her pregnancy. Many couples enjoy making a belly cast together, providing dad with a unique bonding experience with both mom and baby. Others throw belly casting parties and invite their friends to help make or decorate their belly cast.

The number one question we get asked is "Is it hard to make a belly cast?" Making a belly cast using our kit is a very fun and easy craft. Anyone can make a belly cast with a loved one in the privacy of their home in about 45 minutes. No mixing of messy materials is required and the end result is a perfect 3D memento of an expecting mom's belly or torso. Our kit contains only the finest available products. We have done a significant amount of research regarding each product selected to be included in our kit.? We want this to be a unique and enjoyable experience for you and want you to share our feeling that making a belly cast is a celebration of human life and an expression of love for your growing baby!

Our belly cast kit also makes the perfect, unique baby shower gift. All of our kits come gift-boxed and we are happy to include a personalized gift greeting and ship the kit directly to your expecting friend if you desire. Simply fill out the gift card form on our order form.

?Making a belly cast is a fun and easy project using our kit. It takes only about 45 minutes from start to finish and there is no mixing of messy materials required. All you need to provide is a pair of scissors and a basin of water. The casting material used in making a belly castt is extra-fast setting medical grade plaster cast bandage material which sets in as quick as 2-4 minutes. The material is the same exact material that physicians use to cast a broken bone. The whole process really is fail-proof and the end result is a perfect 3D memento of an expecting mom's beautiful pregnant belly!

Medical Grade Casting Material

We provide 4 rolls of 4 inch wide by 5 yard long extra-fast setting medical-grade plaster cast gauze bandage in our kit (20 square feet of material and enough for even the largest of expecting moms). To visualize just what 20 square feet of material looks like, it is equivalent to a 4 foot by 5 foot sheet of material. The casting material is the same as that used by physicians for years to cast broken bones. The casting material is manufactured by M-Pact.

It is environment friendly and made from 100% natural materials. We have spoken to the manufacturer and have received its LHAMA Certification Evaluation that states the casting material is not expected to cause any chronic adverse health effects to consumers exposed to them.

In addition to the safety of the casting material, we are very satisfied with the amount of plaster of paris embedded in the gauze bandage. It really allows the caster to get an incredibly smooth finish during the casting itself. We chose extra-fast setting material vs. fast setting material so that the amount of time mom needs to sit and wait for her ProudBelly Cast kit to dry is minimized. There are other brands of casting material on the market that just don't compare in quality to M-Pact.

Drop Cloth

Making a ProudBelly Cast is great fun, but also is messy! We provide a 9 x 12 drop cloth to spread to keep the drips off your floor and to make clean up after the casting very simple. We chose an embossed drop cloth to minimize the chance of any one slipping on it during the belly casting session.

Sanding Screen

Medium grit sanding screen is used to lightly sand your dried ProudBelly Cast to make a smoother finishing surface if you desire.

Nitrile Gloves

More expensive than either latex or vinyl gloves, nitrile gloves are made from 100% soft nitrile polymer, eliminating any probability for allergic reaction to the natural rubber proteins found in latex gloves. Nitrile gloves have excellent tensile strength and durability compared to vinyl gloves. They also conform well with excellent elasticity compared to vinyl gloves.

Detailed Instructions

The most frequent question we get asked is "is it hard to make a belly cast and am I going to mess it up?" Making a ProudBelly Cast is a very simple craft. We provide step-by-step detailed instructions to guide you along the way. Our instructions also include belly cast making tips as well as decorating and hanging ideas. In about 45 minutes, you will create a perfect 3D memento of your beautiful pregnant form and a wonderful family heirloom.
